Afghans | An absolute classic!
Who doesn't love fresh, homemade biscuits with a cup of tea? These chocolatey, crunchy, classics never disappoint.
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/4 cup standard flour
1/4 cup cocoa
2 cups cornflakes
1 tbsp coco powder
50g melted butter
1 1/2 cups icing sugar
24 walnut halves (optional - my son doesn't like walnuts so mine are looking a little bare!)
1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line baking tray with baking paper.
2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Sift together flour and cocoa and stir into the creamed mixture. Fold in cornflakes.
3. Spoon small mounds of mixture onto the prepared tray, gently press the mixture together and flatten slightly.
4. Bake for 15 minutes or until set. Leave on tray for 1-2 minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool. Once cooled, ice with Chocolate Icing and top with walnut half.
